About Dr. Yu-Shiaw Chen

Dr. Yu-Shiaw Chen has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Mount Sinai School of Medicine at New York City. For twenty years, she worked as a research scientist at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Brookhaven National Laboratories, Stony Brook University, and biotechnology companies. When she was working as a pharmaceutical consultant, she realized the importance of nutrition and its impact on people’s health and wellbeing. After her own research and study, she began her career as a nutrition counselor and educator.

In the past decade, Dr. Yu-Shiaw Chen has been an adjunct faculty teacher at Suffolk County Community College, offering four courses, including "A Scientist’s Approach to Diet and Health," and "Overcoming Sugar and Carb Cravings." As a nutritionist, Dr. Chen has eighteen years of experience helping people lose weight and reduce aches, pains, disorders, and dependency on drugs. Hundreds of people have taken her ten-week “Healthy Weight for Life” program and benefitted from better health. Through the years, she has accumulated countless remarkable healing stories from participants of her 10-week program and private counseling sessions.

In addition, Dr. Chen enjoys presenting to the public and has been invited to give her presentations at various organizations locally and internationally. Her lectures have been found informative, inspiring, and enlightening, and she has educated many people to embrace a healthy lifestyle and improve their health. Combining her teaching, counseling, and speaking experience with testimonials of healing from her clients, Dr. Chen published her book Healthy Eating Wholesome Living in 2011. Currently, her Healthy Weight for Life program is also available online as a live Webinar class.
